Basseterre, St. Kitts, 9th January, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – The State of Qatar has made a monetary contribution to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis that will be allocated to the country’s hurricane recovery programs.
Quatar’s non-resident Ambassador Khamis Al-Sahouti presented the $300,000 contribution to Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris during a courtesy call 8th January, 2018.
According to Government information, Prime Minister Harris expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Qatar on behalf of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis for the generous contribution that, he said, will assist in alleviating the effects of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Government has estimated damage totalling over $150 million to public infrastructure, including schools, police stations, some sporting facilities, several fisheries complexes, and the agricultural sector, as a consequence of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
In the meeting on Monday, the Government source said Ambassador Al-Sahouti also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the means to strengthen and develop these relations.
