Basseterre, St. Kitts, 7th June, 2018 (  The online renewal of your driver’s license is coming to St. Kitts and Nevis soon.

This development was announced by Edward Gift, Comptroller at the St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department, on 6th June radio edition of ‘Working for You’.

Gift said the online renewal of drivers licenses will be available before the end of June 2018, while vehicle registration will be online before the end of 2018.

According to the comptroller, the process is designed to be easy yet thorough.

Gift said, “Once there is a renewal, they can complete their entire process online where they upload their documents for their driver’s license, pay their fee and then come to the Inland Revenue Department to collect the driver’s license card upon presentation of certain information for verification purposes.”

Taking note of security issues that could arise, especially the use of forged documents, Gift said that has been taken into account.

“We understand our responsibility with regards to this process. This is something that we have not taken lightly,” Gift stated.

He continued, “While we are launching this process, we want to also include the process where we will be doing certain verification with other state agencies that would make the process much easier when we move online so that we could have later on automatic validation of information from whether it’s social security or even the vehicle inspection sites that they have around the Federation.”

This is another step in the development of online services from Inland Revenue. Already, it is possible to pay one’s Property Tax and business taxes through e-payment and e-filing protocols.
