Basseterre, St. Kitts, 22nd January, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – The people of Nevis are mourning the second murder of the year in just days, with the latest victim being that of a woman.

Dead is 45-year-old Shirley Dawn Morton of Hanley’s Road, Gingerland, who was killed Sunday afternoon, 21st January, at around 5 pm. She was found dead in Bucks Hill, at the home of her boyfriend.

A Police press release issued Monday afternoon states, “She had visible injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Chandy Jacobs. The scene was processed and a number of items of evidential value were taken into police custody.”

Wayne ‘Spyer’ Chapman, boyfriend of the deceased, is currently being sought by Police in connection to the incident.

It is the second murder for Nevis, as well as the second murder in the federation.

Premier Mark Brantley, shortly after the tragic incident, extended condolences to the family of Dawn by way of his Facebook page.

He wrote, “Please permit me to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Dawn Morton and to all of Nevis. We all mourn at this senseless loss of a beautiful human being. I hope to issue a more fulsome statement once I have the benefit of the findings from our Police.”

This murder follows that of Cleon Browne, who was found with gunshot wounds, on the side of the road, in Rawlins Village, Gingerland, last week.
