St. Kitts welcomed its 12th inaugural cruise call, the MSC Divina, for the 2017-2018 cruise season on Monday 29th January, 2018.
MSC Divina is one of the largest of the Fantasia-Class ship and has a maximum capacity of 3,959 passengers.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Carlene Henry-Morton, led a team of stakeholders and partners onboard the MSC Divina to take part in a plaque exchange ceremony. The Permanent Secretary pointed out that the MSC cruise line is known for its impeccable services and St. Kitts aspires to deliver that same outstanding guest experience to every cruise ship passenger.
“I am here to assure you that the entire tourism industry is prepared to offer your passengers and crew a world-class experience,” Mrs. Morton said.
Francesco Di Palma, Captain of MSC Divina, expressed how impressed he was with the tug boat, which made his docking quite easy despite the choppy seas and high winds. He pointed out that St. Kitts will see additional ships from the MSC cruise line.
“St. Kitts is recommendable… the island is absolutely beautiful and safe. The MSC cruise line has been increasing the number of cruise ships in the Caribbean Sea and we will see an increase for St. Kitts in the next few years,” Captain Palma said.
The MSC Divina has 7 restaurants, 20 bars and lounges, four swimming pools, a bowling alley and gymnasium. The stair cases of the main floor area are decorated with Swarovski crystals. Its theatre seats over 1600 guests and showcases musical productions such as Broadway plays and operas. There is a casino, two arcades, the aqua park and sun decks.
