Texas man convicted on ammunition charges

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 11th May, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – US citizen Gary Koop of Texas was fined $5,400 after being arrested and charged for the Possession of Ammunition and Falsifying a Customs Declaration Form.

Koop, who is a licensed firearm holder in the US, failed to bring the ammunition in his possession to the attention of authorities on arrival in St. Kitts on 2nd May.

But on 8th May, 2018, when Koop was departing St. Kitts at the RLB International Airport, Port Security Officers spotted the ammunition during a scan of his luggage. They found five rounds of .380 ammunition in one of his bags.

Koop was arrested and charged.

On 9th May, Koop appeared before the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court to answer the charges. He pleaded guilty to the two charges before the Court.
