The announcement was made by the National Carnival Committee Deputy Chair, Shannon Hawley, following the final planning meeting held at the Carnival Secretariat on Tuesday, 23rd November.
Registered artistes for the revived competition include, Shakki, Anastasia, X-Man, Mr. World, Ras Kelly, Smilie, Rucas, Hotrod, Jeezy, Soca Samuel, Lord Kut, Big Edwards, Eazi, and Foxy.
Twelve finalists will be selected by a panel of four judges during the week of November 26-30. The National Carnival Committee continues to accept the CD submissions from all competing artistes until registration closes 26th November. The names of the finalists will be announced at a Press Conference on 30th November.
Meanwhile, regional soca sensation “Patch” will headline the show with his mega hit, “Pipe”.
According to the National Carnival Committee release, he has expressed his extraordinary joy of coming to St Kitts Nevis to perform for the first time. Patch, who is legally known as Roger Joseph, is a very successful artiste and intends to share some of his experience with the local acts as they start the journey of perfecting the soca genre.
Patch has been classed as one of Trinidad’s most versatile artiste, singing soca, and most recently soca chutney. He started singing in 1999 with a monster hit called “Comess”. Success followed success with “Macomere”, “Misbehavin”,”De Tail Gone”, “Calling me Name”, and for 2009 ”Rum and Roti”.
The National Carnival Committee encourages all soca artistes who still have an interest in participating in this soca Spectacle for Sugar Mas’ to register at the Carnival Secretariat on Victoria Road.
The show which is slated for 18th December at the Football Stadium forms part of the revamped program for the carnival season.
