According to official reports, rescue teams were greeted by metal wreckage littering the ground and hanging from tree branches, at the site of the crash. In quick response, rescuers opted to dig through the debris with their hands, ahead of the arrival of heavy duty equipment and other machinery.
The thick flames and smoke from the crash however, affected the work of the first responders, making their efforts more complicated.
It has now been confirmed that none of the 152 passengers and crew survived the disaster. The plane is believed to have crashed into a hillside, close to the Pakistan capital, in what was described as stormy weather conditions.
No details have been provided about the actual cause of the incident. Aviation authorities and officials in the Ministry of Civil Defense are carrying out further investigations.
