2011 Budget Debate to Conclude on 20th December

 

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Security and Labour, and Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 3, Sam Condor, begins his contribution on the EC$432.9 million budget when the lawmaking body reconvenes on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas presented the Budget to the National Assembly last week Tuesday (14th December).

Following the Deputy Prime Minister’s presentation, Prime Minister Douglas is expected respond to queries and concerns raised by the other parliamentarians.

The 2011 Budget is to run the affairs of the country for the financial year 1st January 2011 to December 31st 2011.

Last Tuesday Dr. Douglas laid on the lawmaking body, the Report of the Director of Audit on the Accounts for 2009 and the Draft Estimates for 2011, before introducing the Appropriation (2011) Bill, 2010.

Following the second reading of the Appropriation (2011) Bill, 2010, Prime Minister Douglas made a three-hour presentation of the Budget Address in his capacity as Minister of Finance. Legislators began responding on Wednesday, 15th December.
