Officials at the St. Kitts & Nevis Football Association are expressing satisfaction generally, with this year’s outcome. They said they are very encouraged by the huge support that they received from football fans throughout the season, and it was good to see that the crowds have returned to the number one sport on the island.
There is no doubt that Village Superstars was the most prolific team this year, winning three championships. This performance came, despite their poor showing earlier in the year, when they finished almost at the bottom of the table, after the first round of matches. They however, regrouped and came back with a punch that eventually saw improvement in their showings.
It was not an easy road for the guys from Champsville though, because they were the very last team to secure a spot in the Final Four of the Premier League.
They end the season as Premier Division Champions and also winner of the Easter Cup and FA Cup.
Other winners this year were Cayon, who secured the Division One title.
Over 6,000 fans turned out on Wednesday night to witness the final battle that saw Village defeat St. Pauls, who dominated the Round Stages of the contest, by a 3-nil victory margin.
Reports are that the management of Village is now planning their island-wide victory motorcade to celebrate their remarkable achievement.
