MiyVue understands that 478 of these businesses are registered in St. Kitts while the remaining 179 are registered in Nevis.
A press release issued by Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, informs that to date, the Tax Reform Unit officials have made 377 advisory visits (227 in St. Kitts and 150 in Nevis). With respect to compliance, 52 visits have been made on Nevis and 146 on St. Kitts.
The release further informs that return forms for the Unincorporated Business Tax and the VAT return forms have been mailed to the businesses by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
In effort to ensure that the VAT machinery runs with minimal hitches, the Tax Reform Unit officials have committed and are availing themselves to visit businesses during the first two weeks of December to assist them in completing their VAT Returns. Additionally, the Unit will be opened on Saturday 4th December and Saturday 11th December to assist taxpayers in completing their first VAT Return.
The Tax Reform Unit also intends to conduct a seminar on the VAT Return filing during the week of December 6th 2010.
