Contestants in the popular singing talent show have been placed in two groups of eight. Each group will perform every other week, singing in four rounds.
The first round would have the contestants singing Gospel, then Reggae in the second round which will then be followed by R&B and ending with Soca.
After these four rounds and weeks of eliminations the six remaining singers, three from each group, would move on to the final round.
Speaking with MyVueNews.com, radio personality and creator of the contest, St Clair ‘Chico’ Guishard, explained that this year’s auditions were done two ways; one being the usual radio auditions and the other was done on Facebook where videos were posted of the individuals singing and asking the viewers if they should enter or not.
“This year we tried something different and did a Facebook audition, and that was very successful,” said Guishard.
He said because most of the Facebook audition singers were “good”, all of the sixteen contestants were chosen from there. He added that because of this, it is likely the Facebook auditions will continue.
“After trying this for the first time this year, we thought that going forward, we would do that again because we found that it brought out the best talents we have here in St Kitts.” explained Chico, adding, “To me, this year is the most competitive year… from 1 to 16, they are very talented.”
This year the first place winner will receive EC$ 2500, second place will get EC$ 1500 and EC$ 1000 will be given to the third place winner.
The show will be carried live on ZIZ Television from 8:30 pm.
The competition, which is one of St Kitts’ most anticipated, started the new season last week (August 10th) with its first singoff.
