Accounting Practitioners of the ECCB Convene for Joint ICAEC/World Bank ISQC 1 Training Workshop

The ISQC1 workshop is one of the major deliverables of a World Bank sponsored project geared towards the strengthening of the capacity of the ICAEC. The ISQC1 addresses accounting and audit practitioners’ responsibilities for systems of quality control for audits and reviews of financial statements, and other assurance and related services engagements. A system of quality control consists of policies designed to provide reasonable assurance that the practitioner and his personnel comply with professional standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements; and that reports issued by the practitioner are appropriate in the circumstances. The system should also include procedures necessary to implement and monitor compliance with those policies.

The objectives of this workshop are to train the practitioners in the adoption of ISQC1 and to provide practical guidance towards compliance with the standard and the ICAEC quality assurance programme. Discussion topics for the workshop include: Elements and

The workshop will be facilitated by Professor Zeljko Sevic, PhD (FinEcon), a lecturer of Accounting, Finance and Public Policy at the Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland.

Professor Sevic is also a professionally qualified Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner and has provided consultancy services to many international organisations including World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union.
