Agriculture Department Artificially Inseminates First Cattle

The Minister of Agriculture was speaking about the birth of a calf through artificial insemination as a historic accomplishment of the Department of Agriculture.

Dr. Tracey Challenger, the Chief Veterinary Officer, has claimed that this is the first effort spearheaded directly by the Department of Agriculture in the area of artificial insemination.  The intention is to expand the programme to pigs, sheep and goats.

Minister Harris congratulated Jeremiah French, a farmer of thirty years standing pioneered in the artificial insemination of his cattle.  Mr. French and his sons were highly appreciative of the significance of the landmark development and the Department of Agriculture and other facilitators such as the Ross University that provided training in the area of artificial insemination.
