The Quartet would perform at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Monday, 23rd March, at 7 p.m. Accomplished American violinist Sonya Hayes would lead the classical strings concert, accompanied by violist Matthew Maffett, violinist Luke Wedge, and cellist Sean Neidlinger.
According to US Embassy information and media specialist Ayesha Lett, “The gifted musicians will perform works from various American composers with riveting passion and precision that will leave audiences with a greater appreciation for American classical music.”
The Hayes Quartet’s performance would highlight how celebrated American composers such as William Grant, Dorothy Rudd Moore, and Samuel Barber have significantly shaped and influenced the genre of classical music.
“The concert would appeal to a wide audience, specifically music educators, musicians, music students,” states Lett.
The U.S. Embassy states that it is hosting the concert to facilitate cultural exchange and promote music as an educational tool, and it “remains committed to supporting development through the arts in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean and looks forward to maintaining its strong support of cultural initiatives in the future”.
