Basseterre, St. Kitts, Thursday, 7th October, 2021, (MyVue News.com)-The ratio of persons who are not vaccinated and are dying from COVID-19 remains a matter of concern for authorities in St. Kitts & Nevis, and with more citizens succumbing to the disease, the situation will likely become more troubling.
The latest death was recorded on Wednesday, 6th October and reported on Thursday afternoon, (7th October).
This new fatality brings the total to 17.
From figures shared by the health team, only 2 persons who have died were fully vaccinated.
Some 60% of deaths were people with co-morbidities, or underlying conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or renal problems.
In a recent update, the Medical Chief of Staff of the Joseph N France General Hospital, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, cautioned that there are too many people who are still allowing themselves to remain exposed to the deadly virus, by refusing to gain protection through vaccination.
Most of the recent deaths have been persons not vaccinated at all.
On Wednesday, the Chief of Staff revealed that there were no patients in the hospital on ventilators, but he said that of the 19 patients in St. Kitts, 3 were very ill. Four patients are in Nevis.
Getting vaccinated said the doctor remains the best chance of decreasing your risk of being hospitalized.
