MiyVue.com has learnt that sometime after midday today (4th June), two masked men on a bicycle rode across Molineux Road, Ponds Pasture, and one reportedly opened fire on Damian Weekes while he was in the vicinity of his residence.
Information about the incident remains sketchy but MiyVue.com understands that as a result of the incident, he sustained injuries to his side and was reportedly rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for medical treatment.
This media house attempted to make contact with Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime) Ian Queeley, concerning this incident, but efforts were futile.
Contact, however, was made with Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), Inspector Vaughan Henderson shortly after the incident had occurred and he promised then, that he was putting finishing touches on a press release which would have been issued “shortly”. That press release has yet to be released and as soon as more information becomes available concerning this incident, it will be subsequently published.
Weekes is the fifth individual to have been involved in a shooting incident over a 48-hour period. The first incident took place sometime after midnight on Friday, 3rd June, 2011 in Nevis where Travis Bryant was shot in the abdomen while he was attempting to leave a nightspot in his vehicle.
The next incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. that evening when Kenville Finch of Ponds Pasture and Kurt Lucas of Ponds Extension were shot while at Mad House Alley.
Also, earlier today (4th June) at about 7:00 a.m., a masked gunman entered the yard of Jermaine Wilkinson of Connell Street and opened fire on him, striking him in the right shoulder and hip and his left middle finger.
All incidents are under investigation and persons who may have relative information that could assist in solving these cases, are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 465-2241 extension 230 or 220.
