Atlantic weather system approaching Leeward Islands

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 5th July, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – Residents of St. Kitts and Nevis are being asked to monitor an approaching Tropical Depression, now located about 1635 miles east-south-east of the Leeward Islands.

It is moving quickly westward at 16 mph, and by weekend, a more west-north-west track is expected.

Maximum sustained winds are close to 35mph, with higher gusts.

According to the advisory from the Met Office at the RLB International Airport, there is a chance that the depression will degenerate into a trough or low pressure system before it reaches the Eastern Caribbean.

It states, however, “If this does not happen, watches and warnings will be required within the next 48 hours. Residents are asked to monitor this system closely, as quick action might be required to protect life and property.”
