Band Clash Set for Sugar Mas 40:40

 

The new event has been introduced to the carnival line-up as the Carnival Committee seeks to spread its innovative juices to flavour the annual festival with new activities that are tailor made to please the thousands of revellers waiting to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival.

A spokesperson for the Carnival Committee indicated that after a chain of meetings with representatives from various bands in the Federation, they have now been better placed to officially open registration for the 1st Annual Digicel Band Clash.

The Band Clash will provide an opportunity for Soca Bands to display their musical proficiency, skills, creativity and diversity, said a carnival official.

The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday 22nd December and will be the first event to be held in the new “Sugar Mill” venue, Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

Registration forms are available at the National Carnival Secretariat on Lozac Road and the deadline for registration is Friday 4th November at 4pm.  No forms will be accepted after this date, said a release from the committee.sm

Meanwhile, due to the overwhelming response from Groovy Soca Artistes and Groups, the St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival Committee has also announced that for the 1st time in National Carnival history, a “Groovy” category will be added to the Beaumont Park Soca Monarch Competition. 

The show which is scheduled to be held on the 23rd December will now have two winners, that of “Groovy” Monarch and “Power” Monarch. 

Registration for this event is also on-going at the National Carnival Secretariat and online at www.stkittsneviscarnival.com with a deadline date of October 31st, 2011 at 4pm.  No registration forms will be accepted after this date, stated a Committee official. 

Also Registration for the LIME Senior Calypso Monarch and Female Calypso Bacchanal is on-going at the National Carnival Secretariat on Lozac Road and online. 

The Committee has indicated that competition criteria and regulations will also be available at the Secretariat for collection. The Secretariat is open Mondays to Fridays, 8am -4pm.nv
