The Bajans remained unbeaten throughout the entire tournament, scoring victories against Nevis, St. Kitts Team, Anguilla, Dominica and a St. Kitts Development Team.
Nevis, which lost only to Barbados, secured the second place position, followed by St. Kitts, Dominica, Anguilla, then the St. Kitts Development Team.
Barbados’ final game was against the St. Kitts Development Team which they decimated. After batting first and scoring a huge total of 238/5 in their 25 overs, the Bajans bowled out the local team for only 40 for six wickets in their allotted 25 overs.
Daniel Chesman for Barbados missed out on a century by 3 runs after reaching 97.Barbados won by 198 runs, the largest victory margin of the competition.
In another match played on the final day, Dominica defeated Anguilla by 46 runs. Dominica batted first and reached 126 for 4 from 25 overs, but Anguilla could only muster 78 all out in 22.3 overs.
The rest of the season for the youth cricketers now turns to the Government of St Kitts/Nevis TDC 10/10 Tournament which begins at Warner Park, at 9:00am on Tuesday, 30th August, 2011.
Matches scheduled for the contest are:
Game 1 – Anguilla vs Dominica
Game 2 – St Kitts vs St Kitts Development Team
Game 3 – Barbados vs The Winner of Game 1
Game 4 – Nevis vs The Winner of Game 2
The Finals and the Third and Fourth Place Matches will take place at Warner Park.
Also on Tuesday, the official Closing Ceremony will take place at Warner Park at 3:00pm on at which time the prizes will be awarded to the Top Young Cricketers for 2011.
