The street will be filled with vendors selling a variety of Kittitian traditional dishes such as the National Dish, Tree Mutton, Rabbit, Black Pudding and Souse.
Old-fashioned Treats, local arts and crafts will also be on display during this all day event. Entertainment such as folklore, a lunch hour Legends Calypso Tent, steel pan and cultural dance performances will also be on hand to provide amusement.
A carnival Official has stated “Basseterre Alive is a new event added to this year’s National Carnival, which would add a cultural flare to mark the 40th Anniversary of National Carnival. The event is a joint venture organized by the National Carnival Committee and the Ministry of Culture. The fun begins at 12:00 noon and ends at 6:00 pm. It will be a fun day for families and visitors to our shores.”
Businesses on Fort Street are encouraged to be a part of this street fair by setting up display booths outside of their establishments, to promote their products and services.
Basseterre Alive T Shirts will be on sale in celebration of the event.
