Just before 1:00am Sunday morning, (24th June, 2012), after hours of competition, the contestant representing the RAMS Village Superstars, Ms. Brittney Duggins, was crowned queen in the first ever pageant organized by the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, held at Carnival Village, Warner Park. Duggins actually was also declared winner of two of the five segments.
Contestants represented the country’s top teams, including Delphic Newtown, SL Horsford’s St. Pauls, Conaree FC, CCC Bath United and Rams Village Superstars. A sixth contestant, Miss Claire Burke of St. Thomas Trinity Strikers, pulled out of the pageant at the last moment; for personal reasons some have explained.
The show had its moments of excitement that attracted strong crowd responses at times but it was the evening wear and talent segments that appeared to have won crowd approval for high marks.

After a 45 minute wait, following the final segment in the On Stage Interview, the results eventually came with the announcement that the award for Miss Amity was secured by Tricilla Arthurton(C.C.C Bath United); Best Promotional Speech– Shiwani Gumbs (Delphic Newtown United), with 197.5 points; Best Creative Wear, with 220 points, Brittney Duggins (RAM Village Superstars); Best Talent with 210.5 points, , Anthea Morris (Conaree); and Best Evening Wear, Brittney Duggins (RAM Village Superstars), with 199 points.
Then came the shocking news that no winner will be announced for the Best on Stage Interview; although all five young ladies completed their presentations with interviewer, Mr. Dennis Knight. No further explanation was provided. This segment, without any doubt was easily won by the Conaree representative- Anthea Morris, who spoke fluently, with great content and obvious knowledge of what she wanted to communicate. The only other contestant with a fairly good interview was Duggins. Morris however, had they announced the points, would have been miles apart as the most outstanding performer in that category.
Unfortunately, for reasons not even known at the time to the organizers of the pageant, nor senior executives of the football association, the decision was taken by the judges to squash that segment. Had this not taken place, it is very likely that Conaree’s Morris would have been the winner. Apparently the audience of approximately 300 people agreed, because they demonstrated their unhappiness by shouting their disapproval.
There was more crowd rejection and disapproval when the announcements for the top three positions were made. Second Runner –up position was declared as Shiwani Gumbs (Delphic Newtown United), with 800.5 points. First Runner was Anthea Morris, Conaree FC with 819.5 points; and queen Brittney Duggins, Village Superstars, with 822 points. This decision resulted in an exodus of fans who stormed out of the village, expressing disbelief.

Given that close margin, coupled with the decision to exclude the points and declare a winner for the Interview, it is obvious why the audience left the venue extremely disappointed in the actions of the judges.
Both Britney Duggins and Anthea Morris copped two bonus points for being the only contestants to arrive at the venue, as scheduled.
The queen was crowned by the Marketing Manager of Digicel, while the Minister of Sport in the Nevis Island Administration, Mr. Hensley Daniel and the President of the SKNFA, Anthony Johnson, made the presentations to winners in the various categories. Other awards were made by event sponsors and management members of the various clubs.
