Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime), Ian Queeley, told MiyVue.com that the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m.
“David Thomas of Buckley’s was walking on a street in Buckley’s and he was fired upon by an unknown gunman and he got hit once.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Thomas might have been sent on an errand to purchase some items from Best for Less Supermarket and while he was on his way there, the incident occurred.
ACP Queeley indicated that while Thomas was struck by one bullet, it entered one of his legs and exited through the other.
The man, who is said to be in his late 20s, was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated and has been warded in stable condition.
MiyVue.com understands that members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded to a report of the incident and conducted preliminary investigations and an extensive investigation has been launched.
