This year’s competition will be hosted on behalf of the Angostura Limited by the C&C Trading Ltd. The event is planned as a collaborative effort with the St Kitts Hotel and Tourism Association.
The 2011 Angostura Mix Master Bartender’s Competition is scheduled to commence at 2:00 pm, with the main contest at 4:15 pm and should end at 9:00 pm.
The contest will see the bartenders make cocktails that should win over the judges. Local beauties will also model and showcase Angostura’s suite products at Friday’s competition.
Bartenders who are participating in the competition were presented with a set of rules that outlines what is expected of them.
The bartenders have to abide by the time limit of seven (7) minutes to present two (2) cocktails should the competitor exceed the allotted time five (5) points will be deducted on the judges score card. The first prepared Cocktail will be presented in the Open Category and the second in the Rum Cocktail Category, here bartenders must make use of Angostura rums. Bartenders are allowed to use their own utensils and were informed that the cocktail recipes used will become the property of the Angostura Limited.
The judges will score the cocktails on Appearance, Aroma, Taste and Presentation Skills.
The winner of this competition would move on to Jamaica to participate in the Regional Mix Masters Competition and if successful in mixing out his fellow contestant would stir on to the 2012 Global Angostura Mix Master Bartender Competition which be held in Trinidad and Tobago.
