Much interest in this year’s contest is being shown mainly because pageant watchers in St. Kitts and Nevis are holding their bets to see if the twin island state can make it two in a row, to repeat last year’s success of Sudeakka Francis.
The country is ably represented by Ms. Venetta Zakers, who won the Miss Independence Queen Pageant here, held in honour of the 25th Anniversary of St. Kitts and Nevis’ independence. She is also an experienced fashion model filled with confidence and talent and there is little doubt of her abilities.
However, it is now her time to demonstrate just how tough a campaigner she is, as she comes up against 17 other contestants from throughout the Caribbean, including many who have had previous regional experience. That however should not be a deterrent for the St. Pauls native who also won the Miss World St. Kitts & Nevis contest back in 2009.
The contest is due to commence at 7:00pm on Saturday 5th May, at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex in Road Town. They have already been judged in the interview segment which took place last Wednesday 2nd May, at the H Lavity Stout Community College.
Tonight they will compete in Evening Wear, Costume, Swimwear, Talent and On Stage Interview.
Sudeakka Francis stunned her competitors last year when she outclassed them to capture the title. She is a former Miss National Carnival Queen for St. Kitts and Nevis, winning that title in 2009.
