Canadian elite athlete drowns in St Kitts while on training camp

According to the information, Barnaby disappeared during a swim and was later discovered to have drowned.

Local police authorities have not issued an official statement on the unfortunate incident as yet.

Barnaby was part of a 20-member elite Canadian track and field team training at the Silver Jubilee Stadium. He represented Canada in the 400-metre at the 2012 Olympics in London, as well as the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Athletics Canada Chief Executive Officer Rob Guy is reported to have said, “This is such a sad and profound loss… Daundre was an outstanding athlete and an even better young man.”
