This time however, the meet will also attract the participation of top athletes from Canada, who are currently in the St. Kitts, training at the Silver Jubilee Stadium, as part of their own preparations for the Olympics.
A spokesman for the SKNAAA have indicated that a Canadian Athletic Official who is currently accompanying the squad of athletes for the London 2012 Olympics, has confirmed his teams’ commitment to perform at this weekend’s development meet on Sunday 29th April 2012. Their participation would add a stronger element to an already impressive line-up of local athletes which includes:
· Olympic Development Squad Athletes.
· North American, Central American and Caribbean Under 23 Squad.
· National Junior Squad (Under 20 and Under 17 athletes).
The Canadians have been using the facilities at the Silver Jubilee Stadium for the past 2 weeks, to provide much needed training in preparation for the Olympic Games. In January 2012, a gym for athletes was opened at the Silver Jubilee Stadium. All the gym equipment and electronic ice-bath were full compliments of Athletics Canada.
