Carlton Dupont Donates Thousands to Four Calypsonians

The latest support has come from a very familiar source, businessman, sports enthusiast and radio commentator, Mr. Carlton Dupont.rur

Over the past week, Mr. Dupont is said to have donated some EC$5,000 to four local calypsonians, for their consistent contribution to calypso.

The calypsonians who benefitted from the benevolence of Mr. Dupont are King Rockafella, winner of the second annual king of the Tents, the Unexpected, who won the inaugural King of the Tents in 2010 and who last carnival season produced one of the most popular songs, titled, “Gi Dem a Dougie”.

Also acknowledged and rewarded were Mighty Rudder and the Mighty Crusoe, who was a finalist in the Senior Calypso Monarch Competition in 1984 and 1987.

The cash was handed over by radio personality, Conse Edwards, to all four deserving calypsonians, who all thanked Mr. Dupont for his initiative and his kind heartedness.

The handing over ceremony took place at the studios of the WINN FM radio station, in Basseterre.
