It was because of the rain, the committee had to re-schedule its Semi-finals for the now completed Soca Monarch Competition and the Breakfast Fete. On Monday night, 23rd December, it was rain again that crushed the hopes of fans, who were planning to enjoy the International Night at the Sugar Mill, at Carnival Village in Basseterre.
With that cancellation, the committee has taken a decision to refund all patrons who had already purchased tickets.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the committee apologized to the public, saying, “The National Carnival Committee again deeply regrets that the Sugar Mas International Night could not continue following a fabulous showcase by local star Infamus.”
However, they added, all persons with General Admission tickets will be refunded on Friday 27th December, 2013, from 1:00pm at the National Carnival Secretariat, on Victoria Road.
Persons who actually attended last night’s performance will be required to produce the ticket stub. Those with General Admission tickets, who were unfortunately not able to make it to the venue because of the unfavorable weather conditions, will also be refunded, said the committee.
Amongst the artistes billed to appear Monday night were Extasy Sounds & MixKlusiv Sounds, Infamus, Nu Vybes Band, Santana, Mya, Tarrus Riley and Aidonia. Though Infamus got a chance to make an appearance, the show had to be cancelled due to the persistent heavy rainfall.
Given the refunds to be executed on Friday, there is no likelihood that the event will be re-scheduled.
