Central Basseterre Candidate offering free legal clinic for residents

Powell has spared no criticism against his opponent and the incumbent, Marcella Liburd, who he accused of neglecting the people of the area and not doing enough to assist them.

Powell has on many occasions outlined some of the projects that he would like to see for the betterment of the constituents but he has also indicated that he is personally determined to offer whatever assistance possible to the electorate of the area

This commitment was therefore one of the motivating factors that led to the hosting of Legal Aid Clinic, offering free advice to anyone seeking such services

Powell and his UNITY colleagues have organized a clinic for Thursday 24th October, at 5:00pm, at his Constituency Office, on Cayon Street and Upper Thibou Avenue, in MC Knight.

The outreach program has attracted the professional services of a number of experienced lawyers who will be available to help constituents with issues for which they are in need of legal guidance. Though such advice would have normally been of tremendous cost to those accessing the service, the PAM and UNITY Team candidate has indicated that they are willing to waive all charges . Though the main focus is on residents of Central Basseterre, the services will be provided to anyone, including those not from Central Basseterre.

Powell, who is also the Deputy Political Leader of PAM, said, “My constituents are in desperate need of real representation. They need someone who is genuine in assisting them and helping them not only at election time. We have been embarking on ways to unite the people and encourage togetherness, with many activities including happy hours and other socializing type affairs. We have also had an number of “Jumble Sales” allowing persons to get household items, clothing and other things at a very reasonable price and in the  cases of the needy, we have given a great deal of items free of cost.  It is all about helping people when there is a need and creating opportunities for persons to better themselves.”

In a release issued by the party, Powell declared that this Legal Aid Clinic was yet another way to empower and educate people.

“There will be a number of youth developmental activities I intend to initiate and embark upon with a view to uplifting my Constituency and my community and to provide the real representation that the people of Central Basseterre deserve” said Powell.
