Ceremonial Parade Marks 29th Independence Celebrations

Units on display were the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force, St. Kitts Nevis Coast Guard, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the Cadet Corps, the Fire and Rescue Services, the St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority, the Pathfinders, the Boys Brigade, Girls guide and others, who were accompanied by the Defence Force Band.

Following the arrival of Head of State, Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, the units on parade were   inspected by the Prime Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas, on behalf of the Governor General. cadetpr

The Prime Minister of Grenada Tillman Thomas was also present at the parade as well as a number of visiting diplomats. 

After an hour long presentation the parade eventually exited the stadium, making its way   to Camp Springfield where Sir Cuthbert Sebastian offered a toast to the Queen and congratulated all the units on the parade this morning. A toast to the nation was also made by the Prime Minister. 

The Number One Guard was declared the best unit on parade with the female Police Unit second and the Cadet Corps taking the third spot in the Armed Units Section. 

In the unarmed units, the visiting British sailors on parade were declared winners, followed by the Path Finders and a tied for 3rd place were the Port Authority and Shadwell Overcomers.
