This will come in the form of a Career Fair and Open Day, scheduled for later this week.
The CFBC will host a College Career Fair on Thursday, January 24, 2013 and an Open Day on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the campuses on Burdon Street and Horsford Road, Basseterre.
The objective of the College Career Fair is twofold: one, to expose students to educational opportunities open to them while at the CFBC in their preparation for various careers, and two, to expose students to a wide range of career opportunities available to them in the federation.
Munroe College, The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), Ross University, St. George’s University and the UWI Open Campus will be represented to provide information to students and the general public seeking advice on pursuing University education. Several companies/organizations and businesses will also be present to provide insights into their functioning as well as the employment opportunities that are available.
Also, at least two banks, including the St. Kitts-Nevis Development Bank, will be on site to provide relevant information about how to access student loans.
The exciting Open Day is geared towards the fifth formers of high schools and other similar educational institutions in the federation who are prospective CFBC students. Persons in the general public who are interested in finding out more about the various programmes that the CFBC has to offer are also welcome.
With that goal in mind, booths will be set up to display paraphernalia about businesses/institutions and booth personnel will engage persons in specific type work/employer requirements and expectations; also, information will be provided on the various clubs and academic, vocational and technical programmes that the CFBC offers.
The college is urging the public to go out to speak with representatives from local, regional and international institutions and at the same time, view and savour rich performances by the College Choral and Dance Ensemble.
Both events are open to the general public. On Friday, Open Day, while one learns more about the CFBC and college life, eats and drinks will be on sale, prepared by the CFBC’s very own talented culinary students.
They classify the activities as a golden opportunity to get valuable information as students and their parents decide on the future career and educational prospects!
