According to a statement from the police’s Strategic Communication department, the flight arrived in Antigua around 5:40 pm from Jamaica that day.
A total of nine pounds of compressed cannabis was found in the suitcase that arrived on the flight. The police did not state whether the Jamaican man was also on the flight or how he and the Fort Road resident may be linked to the drug trafficking.
The matter is being investigated by the Narcotics Department. Given the quantity discovered in this case, if the individuals are charged, they would have to stand trial in the High Court.
Over the past six years, police have nabbed a number of individuals coming from Jamaica with drugs on Caribbean Airlines flights.
