Kittitian Superstar 2007, first runner up and one of the federation’s upcoming singing sensational, Charles Emanuel is set to reveal his Mixtape.
This live event as explained by Mr Emanuel will be hosted on Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at Sweet Lime, Ma Pau.
Charles is definitely not a stranger to the performing arts to wit the music scene. He has been singing for many years and is highly recognized in St Kitts and Nevis. He is often seen performing at different events and even acting as back-up singer for calypsonians and other musicians.
But, this is his time now.
In an interview with Miyvue.com, the Local singer, songwriter and musician, gave background information on his mixtape and what his fans can look forward to.
When asked if this is his first mixtape and the reason behind taking such bold step in doing so, Charles said, “Yes, this is my first mixtape and the reason why I decided to do this mixtape is because I felt it was time for me to do something new. I’ve been in the band scene I was 17 and I’ve been writing my own music before then.”
He added, “I guess at the time it was fear of what people would think of my material and the criticisms that would come along, but now, I think I’ve grown a little bit stronger and now I’m ready to share my work.”
Emanuel has a wide fan base and he hinted that they can expect a different side of him on this project. He expressed that he is more known for his stripped/acoustic soul performances but these songs will be more upbeat, radio friendly, and have more of a local sound to it as well.
The mix tape consists of six (6) original tracks and carries “Invincible” as its title. Just like any other upcoming singer his songs speak toward his struggles and the person he has become because he never gave up.
“Majority of the songs are about overcoming obstacles in life. Of course, I have a couple songs on the mix tape about love and heartache, but the meaning behind the mix tape (as well as the name) is about standing firm and not backing down.” The song writer cited.
Charles also made mention of two of his songs in particular, that he feels are really powerful and might catch his fans off-guard, but he is ready.
“And although choosing a favorite song is a challenge, I’d have to say it’s a tie between One Night Whine, which I’m very excited for people to hear because I think it’s gonna (going to) catch people off guard, and Start Anew, a song I wrote about realizing you’ve messed up in a relationship and it’s now too late to make amends.”
The event will be held in collaboration with Island Xpressions and will feature local acts who will sing alongside Emanuel and the band of the night, Limitless LP.
The singer explained that it will be remiss of him to not thank the numerous persons who assisted in making his dream becoming a reality.
“Firstly, I’d like to thank the people who’ve stood by me throughout this entire ride my many friends and family who are too many to mention, the producers that I worked with; Antoine Adams, Marcus Nero and Dijon Webbe, the amazing writers; Tabitha Jenkins, Manasseh Curenton and Dason Fraser, Kelvin Christopher who was responsible for the recording and mixing of the project, all the social media sites that took the time out to help me promote my work, radio stations and the fans who believed in me every step of the way.” acknowledged Mr. Emanuel.
The event is set to commence at 8:00 pm (seating time) but Live performances would begin at 8:30 pm. Admission is only EC $20.00.
