Cheeko arrested for Venezuelan embassy fire

From the beginning, police had indicated that their early investigations were leading to a possible case of arson, but that more evidence was being gathered to confirm their suspicions.

The fire, which occurred in the early morning of 5th January, 2014, totally gutted the offices of the embassy that had only a few months ago relocated to Wigley Avenue, from its previous address in the Sands Complex, downtown Basseterre.

Police say that on 22nd January they arrested 37 year old Andrew Wilson, who is also known as “Cheeko”, formerly of Lodge Project. At the time of the fire however, Cheeko was said to be living at Phillip’s Village.

He has been charged for the offences of arson and malicious damage.
