The aim of organizers this year is to raise approximately EC$250,000 that is to be used for the general upkeep of the facility that serves as a home for children, who otherwise are unable to reside in a stable family and home setting.
In meeting their target, the organizers of the charity event have relied heavily on the generous support of numerous sponsors, including the leading shipping company in St. Kitts & Nevis, Hobson Enterprises, (HE), and one of their main principals, UPS, which is the world’s largest courier service.
On Wednesday morning, 3rd October, 2012, the company’s Managing Director, Damion Hobson, expressed his company’s pleasure in making the generous donation to the event and by extension the Children’s Home.
He reminded that this is their second year supporting the charity run, but he assured the Chairman of the Children’s Home Board of Directors that Hobson Enterprises and UPS are fully committed to continue their sponsorship in the future.
“We believe that a good home is good for the country and therefore we want to be able to participate as a sponsor, knowing that our contribution will benefit those who are in great need,” Hobson said.
Chairman of the St Christopher Children’s Home, Mr. Sebastian Mottram, accepted the cheque from Mr. Hobson, on behalf of the Board and Management team of the home.
He commended the company for their consistent support to the home and their thoughtful outreach to the community and thanked them also for their donation.
Mottram told Mr. Hobson, “It is only through companies and sponsorships such as yours that the Children’s Home can keep going.”
Mottram stated that the funds that have been donated will be used for the day to day running of the home, plus some capital expenditure on refurbishment, such as a new bathroom. Therefore this valuable contribution will go towards that,” ended the Chairman.
Mr. Hobson indicated that his company has recognized that community outreach is an important part of being a successful business, thus there is never a hesitation to show their support for such meaningful endeavours.
The Family Walk and Run is part of the St. Christopher Children‘s Home and Service League’s agenda, to promote and foster healthy lifestyles, as well as raising funds for the home.
The cheque, representing the donation was presented during a short handing over ceremony at the Bird Rock Road Headquarters of Hobson Enterprises, (HE).
