With that perverse mindset, a band of gunmen thought it was a good deed to rob a businessman and his wife just as the 2014 Christmas Day was commencing.
Reports which have been shared now indicate that it was the owner of the downtown restaurant known as Kings Pavilion, Kevin Zhang and his wife who were the target of the attempted robbery.
The incident took place at their home on Sprott Street, not too far away from their restaurant which is located at Port Zante. It is said that the gunmen commanded the couple to open the window of their vehicle but when Zhang refused, they decided to shoot into the vehicle, resulting in at least one bullet grazing him in the upper body. Zhang had to be rushed to hospital. Some say it hit him in the face.
However it is understood that the wound is not life-threatening.
It was the alert response of his security guard at his supermarket on Sprott Street, where he had gone, that saved the day.
After realizing what was transpiring, the security guard got into action, rushing towards the parking lot and causing the gunmen to abandon their illicit pursuit.
It is believed that Zhang was followed from his restaurant but this is not yet confirmed.
