Many residents have blamed the poor road conditions on the lack of funds, given the serious financial challenges being faced by the government and the country generally. Now however, steps are being taken by local authorities to address this growing problem.
The Public Works Department has therefore been contracted to undertake a major repair program for Church Street, starting this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Police Traffic Department has issued a release stating that Church Street will be closed to vehicular traffic to facilitate the road work.
The release added, “The general public is advised that major road infrastructure work will be undertaken at Church Street over the period Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February, as a result the road will be closed and parking restricted to facilitate the work.”
The Traffic Department has also extended an apology for the inconvenience that the road closure will cause. Work on Church Street comes as the Public Works Department continues a program of patching and other repairs.
