As part of this support, during October 2013, CIBC FirstCaribbean will be partnering with the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation (Essence) in St Kitts, to raise funds for people currently fighting the disease, and to educate citizens of the Federation on the different types of cancer that affect people globally.
Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams, says “such partnerships hold much meaning for CIBC FirstCaribbean, especially in St Kitts and Nevis with the passing of one of our own to cancer and with many of our clients, friends and family still fighting the disease. CIBC FirstCaribbean staff will be personally involved in a seriesof activities and events geared at generating awareness and raising funds in the hopes of reminding the general public that the bank is serious in its pursuit towards healthier communities.”
According to Essence Group Founder, Pamela Armstrong, “the group is appreciative of, and welcomes the collaboration with CIBC FirstCaribbean, as this will have a greater impact on support for activities to mark the month, locally. The group wants to be a part of the fight in finding the cause of and a cure for Breast Cancer and it is their hope that building a dedicated cancer wing at the hospital will prompt more doctors, nurses and researchers to come to St. Kitts and help join in the fight of this disease.”
All funds raised from the events will go to Essence of Hope and Pink Lily. Members of the public in St Kitts and Nevis who wish to support the effort may deposit their donations at any of the CIBC FirstCaribbean branches on St Kitts and Nevis at account number 106987727.
