This will be the 40th anniversary of the festival that was formally launched in 1971.
In order to give an early start to the carnival, the organizing committee has launched a Slogan Competition while at the same time opening the registration process for participants.
The selected slogan will used as part of the promotional activities, for what has been re-branded, “Sugar Mass”.
In the interest of having a powerful and memorable slogan, the committee has advised that all entries must be 4-8 words and should reflect the festive atmosphere and carnival spirit of the 40th anniversary.
They have also made it a requirement for the slogan to be creative, concise and catchy, capturing the rhythmic flavour of the culture of the people of St. Kitts & Nevis.
Winners for the slogan are to be presented with 2 Season Passes to the National Carnival shows but all entries are to be submitted by Friday 9th September, 2011.
According to a committee release, persons who are hoping to participate in the various activities and competitions are also now able to register for these events.
These include the Female, Senior and Junior Calypso Competitions, Queen Pageants, Individual Mass Players, Marshalls, Vendors, Power Soca and Groovy Soca contests, Panorama, Road March, Jouvert and Grand Parade Troupes, Talented Teen Pageant and Hi- Fi/Sound systems.
The registration deadline is Thursday 8th September, 2011.
The contact point for both the Slogan competition and registration of participants is the Carnival Secretariat, located at the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, on Victoria Road, in Basseterre.
