MiyVue.com understands that on Wednesday, 13th April, 2011, the Conaree resident secured his premises and left home at about 2:57 in the afternoon. It is also understood that the individual returned to his home less than an hour later and when he got there, he discovered “that his house was broken into and (having) entered to investigate further, he met two young men in his bedroom.”
A police report suggests that upon making this discovery, the man enquired of the individuals their reason for being in his home to which no answer was given.
“Instead one of the young men approached him and tried to remove something from his waist. As a result the homeowner drew his licensed firearm and shot one of the intruders in his right leg and restrained the other,” the police report informed.
Officers from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) were summoned to the scene to investigate and the wounded young man was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and is said to be warded in stable condition under police guard.
The police have informed that the unharmed intruder was arrested “on suspicion of house breaking and larceny” and was transported to the Basseterre Police Station.
“A number of stolen items were recovered from the bag of one of the intruder and the yard. Formal charges are expected to follow as soon as practicable (and) investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, investigations are also being made into another shooting incident which transpired at Conaree Village on the same day.

Police officers from the Special Services Unit (SSU) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded immediately and their investigations revealed that a young man at Conaree Village attacked a group of persons and discharged a loaded firearm,” a police communiqué informs.
