CONCACAF postpones Under-15 Boys’ Championship 2015

Although no reason for the postponement was given, the decision comes as the Confederation and the sport’s governing body FIFA are both embroiled in allegations of massive and systemic corruption.

CONCACAF said on Sunday it continues to be focused on its core mission of delivering outstanding soccer events.

In the short term, efforts will be dedicated in full to the successful delivery of the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015, in addition to other Championships which also qualify CONCACAF teams to worldwide-level tournaments, such as the Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship and the Under-20 Women’s Championship, to be played as scheduled later in 2015.

“CONCACAF is committed to restoring a full slate of complementary youth development tournaments in the shortest possible time. This includes our objective to reschedule the Under-15 Boys’ Championship, at the soonest opportunity,” the Confederation said in a statement.

The CONCACAF Boys’ Under-15 Championship was scheduled to take place August 9–23, 2015. For the second consecutive time, the competition finals were due to be hosted in the Cayman Islands, with part of the group stage to be played in Kingston, Jamaica.
