Conservation Urged to Avoid Water Shortage

Officials from the Water Department have for some time being issuing public announcements to alert citizens, but now their effort is being supported by the minister responsible for public utilities and Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Earl Asim Martin.

In a release issued on Thursday afternoon, 7th February, 2013, Dr. Martin joined the list of officials calling on residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to conserve water.

“We will have to look at very serious ways in terms of how we begin to conserve and make sure that we use our potable water as wisely as possible,” said Minister Martin, while speaking in his capacity as the minister responsible for utilities. “So this is an appeal I’m making at this time.”

The Deputy Prime Minister urged public and private stakeholders to work together to make meaningful changes.
