Crowley Maritime Corporation’s logistics group announced earlier this month that it has expanded its Caribbean services with new less-than-container load (LCL) cargo transportation to St. Kitts, with transshipment to Nevis. Crowley’s Miami distribution center, will now serve as a cargo arrival and departure service point for importers here in the Caribbean nation.
Though Crowley already provides regularly scheduled, full container load (FCL) services from the U.S., as well as shipping and logistics services from Puerto Rico to the two-island federation, this new offering will further enhance supply chain options for those shipping directly into the Leeward islands from the U.S, said a spokesman.
Through on-island representation by Hobson Enterprises, Crowley’s logistics group will now provide customers a single point of contact for LCL cargo transportation to and from St. Kitts and Nevis and will offer services that include: full and less-than-container load, ocean and air consolidation and shipping; warehousing; domestic pick-up and delivery of cargo within the U.S.; marine cargo insurance; freight forwarding and documentation.
“The inclusion of services to St. Kitts and Nevis offers further expansion of Crowley’s footprint in the Caribbean,” said Carlos Rice, vice president, logistics. “While individually these Caribbean islands may represent small markets, together they create a sizable territory for Crowley with unlimited growth potential.”
The announcement comes as Crowley establishes stronger ties with Hobson Enterprises, which after two decades has seen its operations grown to become the premier shipping enterprise on St. Kitts and Nevis.
This means that in addition to the regular shipments out of Miami with full container loads of products, such as cars, appliances, heavy duty equipment, building supplies, food items and other huge quantities, Crowley, through its agent, Hobson Enterprises, will now be better positioned to offer a more reliable and affordable service to small and micro businesses and individuals, who are hoping to transport their small supplies, leaving Miami weekly on Thursdays and arriving in St. Kitts on Tuesdays.
“What this new service means is that those very small importers who may not have always had sufficient stock to fill a whole container, they would now be able to ship whatever quantities they have, no matter the size, using the convenience of Crowley, explained the Managing Director of Hobson Enterprises, Mr. Damion Hobson.
To provide greater ease and comfort for our customers, said Hobson, what Crowley is doing is streamlining its operations, making the shopping and shipping experience of Kittitian/Nevisian importers less of a challenge. The services are being offered as a “one stop shop”, making it 100% more efficient.
The company has made its Miami based offices available to assist customers, who are being encouraged to contact them at Crowley Logistics, 10205 NW, 108 Ave., Suite#1, 33178, Miami, Florida. Telephone: 305 463 4800; Email: firstname.lastname@example.org“>email@example.com. The deadline for the receipt of products is Wednesday, (weekly).
Every customer would have the opportunity to monitor the movement of their shipment, using the online Crowley Tracking System. Customers will be provided with their private log in information and access codes.
With the formal start of the new business arrangements scheduled for Friday 1st June, Hobson’s Managing Director has assured importers that they would also benefit from shorter turn around periods. They will be able to access their online accounts to obtain advanced copies of relevant shipping documents, giving them a head start to prepare for the arrival of the goods. The managing Director said anyone seeking further information may contact the Hobson Enterprises office on the Bird Rock Road, Basseterre, or call 1 869 465 8753.
