Initial reports which reached MiyVue suggested that an individual, said to be the driver of a Carib Brewery delivery truck, was shot while in the Cayon area. These reports, however, did not indicate the extent of the driver’s injuries.
According to a communiqué which was issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Office, the incident occurred at about 1:15 this afternoon in Cayon.
“…Police received a report of a shooting at Whites, Upper Cayon. Police officers from the Cayon Police Station, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and the Anti-Gang Unit responded to the call immediately.”
The release further explained that upon arrival at the scene and upon conducting investigations, the officers discovered that a 45-year-old was shot after two gunmen launched an attack.
“Upon arrival their investigations revealed that 45-year-old Brian Maynard of Buckles was driving a truck in Whites Upper, Cayon and doing drinks delivery sales, when he was attacked by 2 masked assailants armed with a gun each and was shot in his left shoulder by one.”
MiyVue understands that Maynard was taken to the Mary Charles Hospital in private transportation and then to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment and where he is said to be “warded in stable condition”.
The authorities have indicated that they currently have no suspects in custody but have informed that they crave the public’s assistance in bringing this case to a close.
While “investigators are vigorously following up on a number of leads”, members of the public are being asked to divulge any information they may have relative to the incident.
