Development Bank honoured at McKnight Day Care Centre sports day

The near 100 children at the centre were divided into three houses, Red Panthers, Gold Tigers and Blue Dolphins. Competition was stiff, and coming in second were the Gold Tigers with 193 points, while bringing in the rear were Blue Dolphins who managed 179 points.

Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis was honoured during the sports meet with a certificate of appreciation being presented to its representative, Head of Business Support Unit Mr Shavon Douglas

“The certificate is our way of showing our deepest appreciation to whatever establishment that helps us,” said the centre’s Assistant Supervisor Ms Sophia Johnson. “We are showing the Development Bank that we are very thankful for their service and whatever donation they could help us because it is very helpful to us in a lot of areas and goes a very long way for our centre.Dev-Bank--mcknight-sports-1

According to Ms Johnson the sports meet was held under the theme ‘Working as a Community to Build Strong Minds’. The Development Bank was honoured for the role it has played assisting the centre in the past. The meet was held under the patronage of Mr Douglas

“The centre has about 96 children from babies right up to age five in the nursery and pre-school,” said Ms Johnson. “Those who could run participated. Once a year we have a week of activities and we have different activities for the week and one day in that week is designated for our sports meet. It is a sports and fun day, so we just seek to come and have fun.”

The bank’s representative inspected the competitors after a march past before they embarked on the day’s competitions. On receiving the certificate from Ms Johnson, he informed that the Development Bank was extremely pleased to partner with the centre in its endeavours to mould young minds.

“Sporting activities are good for a growing body, and I am surprised to witness fierce competition at this early stage in life,” said Mr Douglas. “The country has the potential to project its image on the world stage when young ones are brought up to appreciate the importance of sports in their life. We are happy to partner with the McKnight Day Care Centre.”
