Through partnership with TechSperts, located on Liverpool Row, the telecommunications firm was able to make this worthwhile donation possible, one that will benefit the students who utilize the Business Hospitality Center.
Official at the company have vowed to assist the school wherever possible, after a needs assessment was done last year. Since then, they have been giving back to AVEC in very meaningful and rewarding ways.
Last Christmas, AVEC was awarded over $2,300 from the Cash Vault Promotion. AVEC students have also been benefiting from Digicel’s Internship Programme, where they gain hands on work experience in a thriving business entity. To ensure that the students at AVEC receive the best possible skill sets, the donation of the desktop computers will enhance the learning experience for the business students.
Witnessing this momentous occasion were the Minister of Education, Nigel Carty, Principal of AVEC, Mr. Clyde Christopher, Digicel’s Country and Marketing Managers, Sean Latty and Marsha Chatterjee respectively. TechSperts was represented by the Manager, Mr. Enoete Inanga. Also present were other members of the Digicel Team, along with AVEC staff and students.
In handing over the desktop computers to the principal of AVEC, Mr. Sean Latty, Country Manager reassured Digicel’s commitment to AVEC and the development of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis and expressed that “Digicel will continue to do its part to ensure that the students of AVEC are given a fair chance at excelling at career opportunities that may come their way.” Both the Minister of Education, Nigel Carty and Principal of AVEC praised Digicel for coming forward to assist the school in such a generous way and called on other corporate citizens to follow through with such good deeds.
Since the launch of Digicel in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2005, the company has been leaving its mark on many aspects of community development. Much emphasis has been placed on the development of the Federation’s youth through Sports & Education as they recognize that well-rounded youth are at the foundation of the country’s success.
