The weekend started out with SL Horsford St. Pauls United F. C taking on UDC Garden Hotspurs. Going into half time, UDC Garden Hotspurs had a 1-0 lead but a strong second half by St. Pauls granted them a solid 3-1 victory.
Later on Saturday, defending champions Rams Village Superstars took on newly promoted Cayon Football Club. A keenly contested first half, where both teams failed to put away their chances, saw the first 45 minutes ending 0-0. In the 51st minute Leroy Daniel shocked the defending champions when his header went into the back of the net to put Village under pressure. A 65th minute equaliser by Jevon Francis brought Village level with Cayon with the game finishing 1-1.
On Sunday St. Peters took on Mantab and from the start St. Peters out played Mantab getting two first half goals from Davishawn Buckson in the 34th minute and Steven Richards in the 41st minute. In the Second Half, a third goal was added by Kirkland Harris in the 73rd minute and St. Peters looked to be in cruise control until Kiraee Jarvis struck in the 79th minute then Jermaine Carey in the 81st minute to set up a tense finish for St. Peters who held on for a 3-2 win.
Former champions Delphic Newtown United got a steady start to their season against St. Thomas Trinity Strikers who took the lead in the 34th minute through Dornel Berniers’. In the Second half a strike for Alexis ‘Lecki’ Saddler brought Newtown level before a 89th minute goal by Akeem Francis gave Newtown the victory in a close encounter.
