The first game will see surprise semifinalist Carib Beer Football Club and the well-organized, big game team ECCB FC. Carib rebounded from the ignominy of last season where they were the one team not making it to the knockout round. This season they have shown they are the real deal. Their overall season, though inconsistent, showed that this resurgent Caribteam can beat anyone on a good day. They have been pitted against the most underrated team this season.
ECCB FC had a disastrous season, losing all but one of their games in the run up to the knockout round. Their existence in the final eight only occurred due to the late withdrawal of the disenchanted SKNFA team. That they never started a round robin game with a full squad was always overlooked. When they show up en force, the bankers are a tough team to breakdown, under ‘Sailors’ leadership this team is out to prove a point.
Game two features the Gunners lookalike Scotia Bank Ballerz versus the Digicel football juggernaut that is the Digiballers. Scotia has been Gunner like with their team kit, some fluent movement and passing games, and their ability to infuriate their supporters. Scotia has been a season long frontrunner and are determined to win. Behind their team captain Lerone, Scotiacan run any team to the ground with their fluent passing and pressure defense, definitely a force to be reckoned with.
They have drawn the real Juggernaut of this year’s BLF, the Digiballers. Digicel conceded one defeat all season long and are in no mood to change their winning pattern. They are formidable opponent in all positions on the field. Solid defense backed by the goalkeeper who has conceded the least amount of goals all season Sean Latty. The midfield has both bite and agility and upfront their dependable talisman Kenneth Bobb, one of the golden boot leaders this season, leads the strike force.
This weekend’s games promises to be full of action and excitement. Please note the first game starts promptly at 3:30pm and the second at 5:00pm.
