Dominica honours two footballers killed in crash

The Dominica Government says the decision to change the name of the sports facility is in honour of national coach Kurt Hector and player Noran Jno Hope who lost their lives following a vehicular accident on April 19th.

The ‘R M G Sports Complex’ has been renamed as ‘The Kurt Hector and Norran Jno Hope Sports Complex.’

“Their contribution to sports in Dominica will forever live on the lips, and in the hearts of residents and visitors to La Plaine, the Southeast and in Dominica’s history,” MP for La Plaine, Petter Saint Jean, said in announcing the name change.

“A Government Scholarship will also be awarded to Kelly Hector, daughter of Kurt Hector, to facilitate completion of her studies at the Dominica State College”.

The Government has also agreed to grant two Scholarships to the Dominica State College (DSC) to aspiring young sports personalities of good academic standing, in the Southeast in honour of both Hector and Jno Hope.

“The gestures in the names of Hector and Hope are the government’s way of memorializing the two while also committing to the further development of sports and sports personalities in La Plaine specifically and Dominica in general,” the MP said.
