The minister specifically cautions the younger members of society to refrain from engaging in violence and crime and to avoid excessive drinking of alcohol, especially when driving.
In addition to reminding everyone that they have a stake in ensuring that Antigua and Barbuda’s Carnival remains the “greatest summer” festival, Dr Cort is advising people to seek peaceful resolutions to disputes that often arise where there are large gatherings as seen during the season.
He also extends wishes for everyone to have a great Carnival, and reassures the public that members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda with assistance from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force will increase their patrols and vigilance during the festive season.
However, the Minister of National Security said that citizens also need to ensure that they are taking the necessary precautions to safeguard their person and property.
